Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers,
no run-around.

The questions we hear most often. Don't see yours? Call (619) 471-7233 and we'll answer it in plain English.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Diamond Drywall is a licensed California contractor — CSLB License #1140600, C-9 Drywall classification. We carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance on every job, and we'll provide a certificate of insurance on request.

What areas of San Diego do you serve?

We work across all of San Diego County — from Chula Vista and the South Bay up through Downtown, La Jolla, and the North County coastal cities (Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside), and east into El Cajon, La Mesa, and Santee. If you're in San Diego County, we can quote your job.

Do you do both commercial and residential work?

Yes. Our core work is commercial tenant improvements, multi-family, and ground-up — drywall and metal framing as a trade partner to general contractors. We also handle residential remodels, custom homes, ADUs, and repair work directly for homeowners.

How fast can I get an estimate?

For most jobs, we can return a written estimate within 24–48 hours of a site walk or plan review. For commercial bids with full plans, we typically deliver inside one week. Call (619) 471-7233 or book a free estimate online to get started.

Can you match an existing texture?

Almost always — knockdown, orange peel, smooth, skip trowel, Santa Fe, hand-troweled. The trick is in the technique and the dwell time on the knockdown. We bring samples and test on cardboard before touching your wall.

What's the difference between Level 4 and Level 5 finish?

Level 4 is the standard residential and commercial finish — tape, three coats of compound over fasteners and joints, sanded smooth. Level 5 adds a skim coat over the entire surface — it's required when raking light, gloss or semi-gloss paint, or large unbroken planes will reveal any imperfection in the underlying joints. Level 5 is what you want for high-end residential, museums, hospitality, and most modern commercial finishes.

Do you do insurance work?

Yes — water damage, fire restoration follow-up, and any drywall scope inside an insurance claim. We document scope and pricing in a way that adjusters accept, and we coordinate with restoration GCs regularly.

Will you do small repair jobs?

Yes — but we group small jobs into route days to keep pricing reasonable. If you have a single patch or a couple of cracks, we'll quote it and schedule it on our next route through your area. No job is too small.
